Project Description

This single span bridge structure carries Main Street traffic over Rights River and consists of 1.2 m deep, 40 m single span triple trapezoidal steel box girders supported on semi-integral / skewed (30 degrees) concrete abutments founded on steel piles. Design and construction was completed successfully at a difficult downtown site with large traffic volumes, multiple buried and overhead services and in close proximity to businesses and residences. The design of an on-site detour structure was part of the scope of work. Several cost-effective aesthetic details were included in the design resulting in a one-of-a-kind structure that has been positively received by residents. Design completed in 2009 with the bridge constructed during the 2010 and 2011 construction seasons.
